Serie A – Inter Milan returns to consolidate their lead, Bologna returns to Juve

Inter Milan regained their ease at the top of the Italian championship thanks to their victory against Empoli (2-0), Monday at the end of the 30th day. Federico Dimarco opened the scoring in the 5th minute, taking a cross from Alessandro Bastoni. Jostled by Empoli, Inter had to wait until the 81st minute to secure their victory thanks to Alexis Sanchez. After this victory and AS Roma’s earlier draw in Lecce (0-0), the Nerazzurri are now assured of finishing in one of the top four places in Serie A and participating in the next Champions League. Above all, they are well on their way to winning the 20th league title in their history, the first since 2021. With eight days remaining, Simone Inzaghi’s players are 14 points ahead of AC Milan (2nd) , provisionally returned to eleven lengths after its success on the field of Fiorentina (2-1) on Saturday, and twenty points more than Juventus Turin, in complete rout after a new defeat on Saturday against Lazio (1-0).

Italian international Francesco Acerbi played the entire match, his first since being accused by Napoli defender Juan Jesus of hurling a racist insult at him. Acerbi was not sanctioned by the Italian Federation due to lack of conclusive evidence, she explained last Tuesday.
