Inter Milan and Juventus on Sunday evening provided a great football spectacle in Milan, ending with the score 4:4. Piotr Zieliński played a phenomenal match and during the hour he scored a double, although from penalties, but he participated in all four goals of Inter (!) These are the first Polish goals in the history of the club. Motta and Inzaghi’s players served the match of the decade on the Apennine Peninsula. A match that will be remembered for years.
Before the match
Inter boosted morale this week with an extra-time win against Young Boys in Bern. Juventus, in turn, suffered a deserved defeat against Stuttgart at home… also in extra time. Mattia Perin worked wonders in Turin. He defended as best he could, and Stuttgart pressed mercilessly. The day after the meeting, the goalkeeper extended his contract with the club.
In the league competition, both teams were next to each other before the match – Inter was higher, as runner-up, and Juventus was third. Thiago Motta started the season in his new club with one goal conceded in eight games. Inter only lost once, but it was in the Milan derby against Milan. The clash promised to be exciting.
Zieliński scores penalties?!
There was plenty of boredom from the beginning of the match, but there were plenty of opportunities. In the third minute, Denzel Dumfries’ fight with Danilo could have resulted in the Brazilian’s injury and Federico Gatti went to warm up. However, the Juve captain endured the temporary pain and returned to the game. The match started to heat up at the end of the first quarter, but once it did, there was nothing to collect.
In the 14th minute, Danilo was late and kicked Marcus Thuram in the ankle. Piotr Zieliński converted the penalty kick without any problems. It was the first Polish goal in the history of the Milan club, as “Zielu” was the first Pole to play for Inter in an official match. He confused Di Gregorio by hitting the ball in the completely opposite direction. Secure finish.

A few minutes later, Juan Cabal delivered a brilliant left-foot pass to Weston McKennie. The American, in turn, served Dusan Vlahovic and scored an empty goal in the 20th minute the Serb equalized. The match showed no signs of slowing down – after a great attack on the right flank, Francisco Conceicao carefully passed to Timothy Weah and he put Juventus in the lead. In the 26th minute we were already 2-1. Two quick punches in ten minutes.
Sergio used to play for Inter, but this time it was his son who shone in the colors of their biggest rival. The 32nd minute saw a juicy shot from the left foot by Conceicao and an excellent defense by Di Gregorio.

Three minutes later, Piotr Zieliński started the action in the rival’s half, and after a few moments Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored very precisely at the far post from his left foot and equalized the match. Twice in this action there was a 2v1 sequence between Inter players. Finally, it’s an assist from Marcus Thuram.
Did we say this match wasn’t planning to stop? If not, you already know – both teams were powerless. Two minutes later, Pierre Kalulu made an equally stupid penalty – he kicked Denzel Dumfries and Inter received a penalty again. And if there’s a penalty kick in this match, it’s only Piotr Zieliński. The Pole proved effective again, although this time he was sensed by Di Gregorio and Inter took the lead again in the 38th minute. Below, it is worth taking a look at Thuram’s beautiful action from the 42nd minute, where he left four rivals behind.

The added time was a bomb next to Timothy Weah’s goal. Marco Guida finished the first half, but no one thought that something better awaited us…
Juventus did not give up
It wasn’t a good match for Danilo. A few minutes after the break, the Brazilian finally picked up the yellow, and he had been working for it throughout the match. A minute later, when taking a corner kick for Inter, he failed again. Zieliński’s cross was headed by Denzel Dumfries and a After a while, the Dutchman placed the ball past Di Gregorio – 4:2! Could something else have happened to Inter?

In the 61st minute, Kenan Yildiz appeared on the pitch – it was a key moment of the match. Two minutes later, Piotr Zieliński came down to applause. Replacing the Pole turned out to be an unlucky choice. Inter was constantly wasting opportunities to finish the opponent – Dimarco, De Vrij, Lautaro Martinez missed – until Kenan Yildiz came to the fore and scored a goal with a flat shot past the long post in the 71st minute.

Inter then wasted further chances – Lautaro again, and also Thuram. And Kenan Yildiz was clinical again and led to a draw. There was a draw from the 82nd minute until the end. We watched a real match of the decade in Serie A, it will be hard to forget such a match. Juventus showed how to be effective, turning five shots on target into as many as four goals. The situation was changing like in a kaleidoscope – from 1:0 for Inter, then 2:1 for Juve, then 4:2 for Inter and finally 4:4. This made the match a brilliant spectacle. And a Pole took part in it!
