“Injuries in football are a constant and growing problem. It is difficult to reduce and contain these accidents, but we play too much and above all we train too little.” This is the analysis made by Doctor Piero Volpi, Inter’s doctor, regarding the many player knockouts recorded at the start of the championship. Among the problems indicated by Volpi is “the density of matches. We have players who play all year round, even twice a week for long periods. But it is not enough to say we play too much. We must say we play too much and we he trains little”, underlines the historic Nerazzurri club doctor and head of knee surgery and sports traumatology at the Humanitas clinical institute in Milan on Radio Anch’io lo sport on Rai Radio 1.

In his analysis, Dr. Volpi adds: “The qualities that a player must have such as strength, high speed and resistance are difficult to include in the weekly cycle plan of a football team. You end up having 240-250 training sessions during the season of which only 25% are truly training sessions and this is among the prevalent causes of injury.”
