Serie A clubs are allowed to train again from May 4 after two months of lockdown NOW

Serie A clubs are allowed to train again from 4 May. The condition is that players stay at least 2 meters apart. After May 17, regular training with the group is possible again.

The players in Italy have not been training since the lockdown started in the most severely affected country in Europe on March 9.

The death toll in Italy has risen to 26,644, but in recent days the number of new infections has declined and fewer and fewer people are dying.

Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte therefore announced on Sunday evening that the measures are being relaxed. All athletes are allowed to train again at a distance from each other, including professional football players.

Competition possibly finished

The resumption of training can be the prelude to the completion of the season in Serie A, in which twelve more rounds are scheduled.

“If conditions allow, we’ll finish the season,” Conte said in his speech on Sunday. “Safety and health are paramount. We love sports, but our idols are not meant to get sick.”

If the season is actually finished, it will be exciting. Juventus is currently leading the Serie A with just one point ahead of Lazio.
