FIRENZE – The match between Fiorentina and Inter, postponed due to Edoardo Bove’s illness on the pitch, has been postponed to the “first available date”. This was decided by the Lega Serie A Council, which at the moment however has not been able to identify a certain day, due to the numerous national and international commitments of both teams. And thus an asterisk has been added to the Serie A rankings. Yet another, after those for the postponement of the matches of Inter, Milan, Juventus and Atalanta on the Super Cup weekend. The chances of recovery of Fiorentina-Inter
A possible space for the recovery of Fiorentina-Inter it could open in February. However, if one of the two teams were to reach the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup, the available dates would be reduced, with limited margins between the 5th and 26th of the month. If both Fiorentina and Inter manage to qualify directly for the round of 16 in Europe, avoiding the play-offs – they can do so by ranking among the top in the “maxi groups” of the Conference and Champions League – the match could be restarted on 12 February, starting from the 17th minute ‘, the point at which it was interrupted. In that case, Fiorentina-Inter would be played three days after Inter-Fiorentina.
Super Cup and postponements
On the occasion of the 2025 Italian Super Cup, which will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 2 to 6 January 2025, the participating teams – Inter, Atalanta, Juventus and Milan – will be involved in the following semi-finals: Inter against Atalanta, which will be played on Thursday 2 January , and Juventus – Milan, scheduled for Friday 3rd. The final is scheduled for Monday 6th January. Due to these commitments, the Serie A matches involving the teams involved in the long Arab trip, originally scheduled for the weekend of January 4-5, have been postponed. Como-Milan and Atalanta-Juventus will be played on Wednesday 14 January, while Inter and Bologna will take to the field the following day, Thursday 15.
The case of Bologna-Milan
Then there is the case of Bologna-Milan, caused by the devastating flood that hit Emilia-Romagna in October 2024. The match, initially scheduled for the 26th of the month, was postponed. And it will be played in February 2025. As for Fiorentina-Inter, the exact date will be defined based on the results of the two teams in the Italian Cup and in European competitions.
