Sergio Rodríguez: “I hope to be at the Olympic Games” | Radio Club Tenerife | Present

Sergio Rodríguez has announced on ‘Radio Club Deportivo’ his intention to attend the next Olympic Games in Tokyo. In a special edition on the occasion of the station’s 87th birthday, the lagoon player has admitted that it has been “a complicated season due to the pandemic, travel, tests … but in general it has gone well.” In fact, he has achieved his qualification for his seventh European ‘final four’.

“I have been fortunate to be in great teams and compete to the fullest in the Euroleague”, was another of his messages on the air.

“I am very lucky to continue living these kinds of great experiences. Competing in a new ‘final four’ is something very nice,” he also pointed out.

During the interview, he announced his intention to be in Tokyo 2020. “Going with the national team is always special but doing it at the Olympic Games, even more so, due to the amateur nature of these appointments every four years,” he said. “Now, the important thing is to enjoy every moment. The section of the season for which we have worked all year has arrived and I want to focus my energies on what is to come, but I hope to be at the Games and it will be an important date for everyone,” he added. .

On his future, he hinted what happens to continue at Olimpia. “I have one more year of contract and I am happy, we have adapted very well to Milan. The circumstances of the team make us face some very fun years, which are the ones ahead,” he argued.

Regarding Lenovo’s role in the ACB and in the Basketball Champions League, he said he was “very proud of what he is doing,” he stressed that he is rubbing shoulders with the national and European elite; and he assured that “I wish I had had a benchmark like the current CB Canarias” when he made his way into basketball in Tenerife.
