Bola.net – Sergio Ramos believes that Arsenal is one of the best teams in the Champions League at the moment. He was even impressed by what he saw from Mikel Arteta’s team and compared them to defending champions Real Madrid.
The Gunners achieved a 2-1 victory in Spain, Wednesday (25/10/2023) early morning WIB, thanks to goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus. Meanwhile, the home team was only able to respond through Nemanja Gudelj’s header in the second half.
The win brought Arsenal back to the top of Group B, one point ahead of Lens, who beat them 2-1 before the international break at that time.
“In the end, the Champions League is about small details. Maybe we were penalized for a goal before the break, which emotionally I think hurt the team,” Ramos said after Sevilla’s defeat.

Take the Positive Side
Ramos insisted that Sevilla could take positives from their defeat and praised his teammates for their performance against Arsenal, who he said were the best club in the Champions League.
“In one-on-ones we had chances to hurt them, knowing that Arsenal is a team that always attacks, and left a lot of space up front to take advantage of the disadvantages we sometimes found ourselves in, but we didn’t exploit them well enough.
“In the end it gets complicated because when you lose, the conclusions drawn are almost all negative. But despite all that, I believe that the team can go home with a clear conscience after emptying themselves on the pitch.”

Arsenal is the equivalent of Real Madrid
Arsenal are playing in the Champions League for the first time since 2016/17 after finishing second in the Premier League last season.
They may lack experience in competing in top European club competitions, but Ramos feels that they have the quality to test any team. He compared them to Real Madrid, who drew 1-1 with Sevilla at the weekend.
“I think in the end we played well, both against Real Madrid and Arsenal. It’s true that it’s difficult not to see the difference before we face the teams that, for me, are currently the best teams in Europe,” he added.
“And playing directly with a team like this and knowing that they create chances from the back and want to create chances by playing football from the goalkeeper’s kicks, it’s not easy.”

Still Optimistic
Asked if he believed Sevilla had a chance of beating Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, Ramos replied: “Hopefully. I think ultimately that’s the idea, isn’t it?
“It’s clear that in the end we have to improve step by step, game by game, and that’s the idea.
“It’s true that you have to believe, you have to be yourself and perform like that. And in this case, when we go there with great respect, we have to believe that we can win.”
