Sergio Pérez’s Early Retirement and Setback for Red Bull in Japanese Grand Prix

Sergio Pérez has ended the Japanese Grand Prix prematurely. Max Verstappen’s Mexican teammate at Red Bull sent his car into the garage after fifteen laps. In the short time he spent on the Suzuka circuit, he caused two collisions and received two time penalties. After a pit stop, during which he had a broken front wing replaced for the second time, he reported that his car did not feel right.

Pérez’s quick retirement is a setback for Red Bull, which can already win the constructors’ world title in the Japanese Grand Prix. The Mexican will not score any points now, so it comes down to Verstappen. The two-time world champion must single-handedly ensure that Red Bull has 309 points or more than Mercedes’ rivals after the race. For the time being, the Dutchman is in the lead halfway through the race.
