Sergio Gutiérrez, new president of the Board of Directors of San Lázaro

The Chamber of Deputies approved this Tuesday by 420 votes in favor the appointment of Sergio Gutiérrez Luna as the new president of the Board of Directors, after the death last Saturday of the previous head of that legislative body, Ifigenia Martínez y Hernández.

Likewise, it approved the appointment of Dolores Padierna as the new vice president, in place of Gutiérrez Luna, and of José Luis Montalvo as secretary of the Board of Directors in place of Pedro Vázquez González, in both cases for the first year of the 66th Legislature.

After the three deputies took office in the presidium, the coordinators of the parliamentary groups of the PRI, PAN and PVEM, Rubén Moreira, Noemí Luna and Carlos Alberto Puente, respectively, congratulated the appointed legislators. Roberto Albores Gleason did the same, on behalf of the PT bench.

In a brief intervention, Gutiérrez Luna thanked the appointment and assured that the three new members of the Board of Directors will carry out their work “with impartiality, objectivity, always trying to properly conduct the debate and sessions in this Chamber. I thank all the parliamentary groups, we remain committed to this task and we are not going to fail them.”

As had already been reported in this newspaper, the proposal for Gutiérrez Luna and Padierna to occupy those positions on the Board of Directors was presented by the coordinator Ricardo Monreal in the Morena plenary session that took place yesterday in the Legislative Palace of San Lázaro.

The coordinator of the cherry bench explained that there were legislators who raised their hands to preside over the Chamber, but stressed that it was a majority vote within their party’s bench.

At the end of the vote on said issue, the license request of Sylvana Beltrones Sánchez (PRI) as a multi-member representative was approved, and that Claudia Selena Ávila Flores (Morena) take the place of Carlos Alfonso Candelaria López, who assumed the position of leader of attention to Welfare corridors, in the Ministry of Economy.
