Sérgio Conceição: «It was a night when everything went backwards»

Sérgio Conceição, coach of FC Porto, speaking to Sport TV, after the defeat against Gil Vicente (1-2), at Estádio do Dragão, in a game of the 22nd round of the League. The trainer only answered one question.

– I leave with negative feelings, that is, we entered the game well, we had a goal annulled right at the beginning, we scored a goal, we had a ball on the crossbar and an occasion of Pepê on top of the goal line. That is, we had four occasions where we could kill the game in the first 25 minutes.

– Close to the half-hour, Gil Vicente scores a goal with some of our defensive mistakes, then it was a succession of negative situations to end the first half, with João’s expulsion [Mário].

– We adjusted ourselves in the second half, at half-time, to go in search of the result and win the game even in numerical inferiority. Gil had many approaches to our defensive third, but without creating much danger. We, in terms of shots, shot a lot, we scored a goal that was annulled by thirty centimetres, that is, the players gave everything they had to give. The public also gave everything, always supporting from beginning to end. They didn’t deserve it, they want to win, like me and the work group.

– It was a night when everything went backwards. In my opinion, in the dubious and important moments of the game, there was a lot of rigor and visualization, which I think is very good, but it has to be for both teams.
