Sergi Roberto in tears said goodbye to Barcelona

Trip Sergi Roberto As Barcelona already finished. He was also emotional when he said goodbye to the club he had supported for dozens of years.

Sergi Roberto’s contract at Barcelona expires on 30 June 2024. He also agreed to a new contract with the club.

However, a change in circumstances meant that Sergi Roberto could not get a contract renewal. It was only on Sunday (11/8/2024) that it was announced that Sergi Roberto would be leaving.

Barcelona held a farewell ceremony for Sergi Roberto on Tuesday (13/8/2024). Gerard Pique, Carles Puyol and Xavi Hernandez were also present at the ceremony.

“In the last few years I’ve seen legends and teammates leave and today it’s my turn,” said Roberto, who sometimes struggled to hold back his tears back.

“At the age of 14, I realized my dream of wearing a Barca shirt for the first time and I enjoyed every day as if it was my last.

“Who would have thought that I would go on to play 373 games for a club in my life? And that I would be captain, following Messi, Busquets, Xavi and friends?”

Sergi Roberto, who graduated from La Masia, broke into the first team at Barcelona in 2010. He was then trusted to be the captain in the 2023/2024 season.

“I want to say goodbye to the fans on the pitch, but I want them to know that I am forever grateful for their support and that they will always be in my heart,” he continued.

“I also wish all the best to my teammates, you have new supporters here who will celebrate every victory,” said Sergi Roberto as reported by ESPN.
