Sergey Tanin’s CD Launch Features Robert Schumann’s Davidsbündler Dances and More Piano Works

The focus of Sergey Tanin’s new CD and the piano evening for the CD launch are Robert Schumann’s Davidsbündler dances. This piano cycle is inspired by the idea of the fictitious artists’ association of the same name, which, in addition to composers such as Chopin and Liszt, also counted two fictional figures among its members. Schumann integrated the impulsive Florestan and the thoughtful Eusebius as opposing characters and players in this cycle, which is central to his work. Schumann’s Arabesque, Beethoven’s “Hunting Sonata” and a selection from Antonin Dvorak’s “Slavic Dances” will also be performed this evening.
