The famous Ukrainian coach and authoritative expert Oleg Fedorchuk admired him application Ukrainian national team for games in September League of Nations.
Goalkeepers: Giorgi Bushtan (“Dynamo”), Anatoly Trubin (“Benfica”, Portugal), Andrey Lunin (“Real”, Spain)
– Sergei Rebrov placed in the top three on the team list at the Euro finals. How can we rate this decision on a scale of one to ten?
– This is our most powerful link. Over the last 10-15 years, it has been the most stable for us. The only thing is that it seems to me that Lunin is now having a very hard time mentally. There are very mixed reactions to his direction from both fans and Real Madrid coaches.
So, he might have to take a break now and then decide on the path to continue his career. He has already taken the chance on his own, and not relying on his club. Therefore, the position of third goalkeeper could be given to a promising goalkeeper. But the rating: 10.
– Who then should be “number one” in the matches with Albania and the Czech Republic?
– This should be decided by the teachers. There is a goalkeeper coach, Rustam Khudzhamov, and he has to talk to all the goalkeepers. Bushchan is in good shape now, but I think Trubin should still be in goal.
The position of goalkeeper is a very special position in which a footballer does not always have to prove something to someone. He must be confident. Other positions require competition, but here the player must know that he will play.
Defenders: Mykola Matvienko, Efim Konoplya, Valeriy Bondar (all Shakhtar), Oleksandr Tymchyk, Denis Popov (both Dynamo), Vitaly Mykolenko (Everton, England), Ilya Zabarny (Bournemouth, England), Maxim Taloverov (“LASK “, Austria)
– The application lists eight defendants. How do you rate their list?
– I will give it a rating of 8, because we had problems with the Euro, but after that the coaching staff did not make any decisions regarding the team. We have problems in this line. This is an unbreakable connection in both Shakhtar and Dynamo. Looking at the teams’ matches recently, we can see that the defenders looked very uncertain.
In particular, Valery Bondar lost his race to Filippov in the UPL match. Alexander Filippov is not Usain Bolt and he is not the fastest soccer player in Ukraine. And, for example, Denis Popov should not have made such a mistake in the game with Salzburg. This was a clear demonstration of what we have to offer. I also have doubts about Maxim Talover. He needs to improve positional play and not just rely on his own anthropometry. Our defense center definitely has a question mark.
– Don’t we have enough side defenders? Namely there are only three of them: Alexander Tymchik, Efim Konoplya and Vitaly Mykolenko.
– Yes, I completely agree with you. Those who play on the side have more workload and injuries. So, this is also a question for me. I would say another man instead of Taloverov, because we have a lot of middle players. More likely, I would say Bogdan Mikhailichenko from Polesye. But this is decided by the coaching staff and he knows more about the condition of the players than we do.
– Vladislav Kabaev is considered in the media as a backup to Mikhail Mudrik. Could the debater replace Mikolenko?
“They have completely different functions, and we can already see from Karavaev how a player becomes a side defender. He and Kabaev even have similar roles. But when we allow such changes in circumstances, we must understand that mistakes like those of Alexander Karavaev will happen now. In general, there are very few players in the world who can play equally powerfully both in attack and defense. Just like Javier Zanetti once was. But even he didn’t do as well up front as he did in defence.
I would look at one more player in the national team – Maxim Bragara from Dynamo. Here it is very, very versatile. His life was so demanding that he was actually a station wagon. I believe that if he continues to show himself like this, he will make the national team this spring. This is my prediction for him.
– After the Euro, you were afraid that the injury would affect Vitaly Mykolenko’s club career. What do you think of his form at the start of the Premier League season?
– Now it is not the form, but the character. But he is truly a professional and one of the few Ukrainian football players who fits in the Premier League. As they say, with such a guy you can go on to study (smile).
Midfield: Andriy Yarmolenko, Nikolay Shaparenko, Vladimir Brazhko, Vladislav Kabaev, Oleksandr Pikhalyonok (all – Dynamo), Taras Stepanenko, Georgy Sudakov (both – Shakhtar), Oleksandr Zinchenko (Arsenal, England), Mikhail Mudryk (Chelsea, England), Sergei Sidorchuk (Westerlo, Belgium), Ruslan Malinovsky (Genoa, Italy), Viktor Tsygankov (Girona, Spain)
– What is the situation in the middle of the park?
– I have questions here too. First, the coach must decide for himself: he is good or effective. If he wants to be successful, in a sense he even has to be a dictator. And if players are called who don’t play much in clubs and are of an advanced age, first Stepanenko and Sidorchuk, I don’t understand the logic of the decision.
We had a failure at the Euros and now we had to make decisions and prepare for the next qualifying round. Are we satisfied with this result and now expect Stepanenko and Sidorchuk to play better? For me, these names are important in Ukrainian football, but in the context of history. Now coaches have to look for new players like that, 20-22 year old players. For example, if Sidorchuk was still playing for Dynamo, Brazhko would still be sitting on the bench. Here’s the rating: 7.
– Returning to the subject of sides. Could Maxim Khlan, who competed at the Olympics, play in the national team?
– He doesn’t have a little anthropometry, but from a football perspective he looked very powerful. Especially in the first game. It is footballers like Khlan who must be called upon to give them a powerful motivational boost.
At a systematic level, the national team should have two or three places for young players who have performed well in a club or youth team. Then there will be competition. If I said that goalkeepers do not need weight, then for other positions it is needed. This is not happening here. Why? Question for Rebrov.
Forwards: Artem Dovbik (Roma, Italy), Roman Yaremchuk (Olympiacos, Greece), Vladislav Vanat (Dynamo)
– The attack is also a very normal option. In the application: Dovbik, Yaremchuk and Vanat, and Sikan were again on the reserve list …
– After the Euro, where he played for a few minutes, Vanat did not have a game at Dynamo for a long time – until he left against Salzburg. Apart from running errands, Vlad did not succeed in anything, but Sikan is no better now. Therefore, we can agree with this option. The problem is that the Olympic team also did not have a player who could be called. Among the youth too.
Dovbik is not having the best time right now, and Yaremchuk is just adjusting to his new team. This is probably our weakest link. Alexander Filippov from Alexandria is the only person with the UPL. Alexander Nazarenko is still in good shape, but he is an outside midfielder. Rebrov has little choice now. Rating: 8.
Reserve list: Dmytro Riznyk (Shakhtar), Bohdan Mikhailichenko (Polesie), Oleksandr Svatok (Austin, USA), Vitaly Buyalsky (Dynamo), Oleksandr Zubkov, Danilo Sikan (both Shakhtar)
– In addition to what’s on, we also have a reserve list. We have already mentioned the names of the actors who should be included in the base. Who would you put on the reserve list?
– It is difficult to say, because Alexandria is performing well in Ukraine now, and there is team play there. I don’t see anyone like that. I like Bragara a lot, but he doesn’t play in Dynamo’s starting lineup.
