Sergei Bobrovsky Crowned ‘King of America’ After Historic 400th NHL Win Against Rangers

But even at 36 years old, an experienced goalkeeper is able to literally stand, saving the team at the last line. In Florida’s road game against the Rangers, he proved that again. The puck already hit his goal in the fifth minute, but after that Sergei was simply unbelievable. At times the Panthers defense allowed their opponents to make several shots in a row, but Bobrovsky dealt with them effortlessly. In total, he made 24 saves, which helped the guests to win with a score of 3:1.

“What an amazing keeper”

With this success against the Rangers, Bobrovsky reached the milestone of 400 NHL career wins. Previously, only 13 goalkeepers in league history had achieved this. However, Sergei did it faster than his competitors. The Russians needed 707 matches.

It is highly symbolic that Bobrovsky has surpassed the performance of Rangers legend Henrik Lundqvist. The famous Swede needed up to 20 more games. No one could break this record for more than seven years. The Florida press service responded to this performance on social networks with a short but short phrase: “King Bob.” Sergei deserved to be recognized as the first star of the game and the day of the game, and his teammates admired his statistics.

“He’s the backbone of our team. What he’s done, very few can accomplish. I don’t know if anyone has been as fast as him. What an amazing goaltender,” Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk said .

“This winning percentage is amazing. To do something like that faster than so many of the leading goal scorers in history… I’m thrilled that he’s getting this recognition at the top of his game,” said Panthers head coach Paul Maurice .

“He’s a real goalkeeper,” defender Dmitry Kulikov told his teammate.

After the game, Sergei urged his teammates to enjoy every moment while they could wear hockey gear. There is confidence that such a Bobrovsky in the future will give his fans reasons to rejoice more than once.
