Between this year and next, the sergas will add around 5,700 permanent staff positions: 3,870 by competition-opposition and 1,815 in the process of stabilization by merit contest that aim to reduce temporary employment below 8%. The list of those admitted and excluded for this second process will be published in March, starting with nursing and family medicine professionals, and the intention is that the merit contest will be resolved in October.

This has just been announced by the Galician president, Alfonso Rueda, after the weekly meeting of the Council of the Xunta. Likewise, he indicated that the tests that will affect the 3,870 vacancies by competition-opposition will be carried out between the month of June of this year and February of the next fiscal year. Regarding the part of the evaluation of merits, he indicated that it is expected that it will also be resolved in October.

The president gave an account of other agreements that affect the Ministry of Health and made up of the acquisition of vaccines. Specifically, the Galician Executive gave the green light to allocate more than 10 million euros to acquire vaccines for the gripe. The amount covers a total of 890,000 doses of the flu vaccine and 218,000 of them are for the most vulnerable groups. Rueda highlighted the high coverage achieved in the last campaign among people over 65 years of age and considered the coverage achieved among children “important”, who joined the flu vaccination for the first time this autumn-winter.
