Serena Bortone began the episode of Today is another day welcoming in the studio Serena Grandi and her son Edoardo Ercole. A very exciting episode, right in the World Day against Homophobia, which is celebrated on May 17: the actress has publicly supported Edoardo for his sexual orientation, claiming to be happy with it and always love it.
Serena and her son enter the studio, discreet and happy: the solidity of their bond is immediately evident. The actress admits that she would like to move close to her son and Edoardo does not hold back: “Mom would be intrusive from the point of view of the kitchen, she would welcome me with laden tables. The other night I returned from Rimini at midnight and found one pot full of meat sauce“.
Serena admits that this aspect took it from her mother: “If you didn’t eat, parents worried when I was little”. It doesn’t take long before the name of Beppe Ercole, great love of Serena and father of Edoardo. “His dad was wonderful, but he was also narcissistic and self-centered. I pulled him up on my own, trying not to let the nannies support him, I took him with me to the sets, he did his homework in the trailer. It was a joy and a struggle.”
Edoardo admits he hears the lack of dad and to be happy to have been there in his final days. “I still miss Dad today, I will always miss him. Maybe he could have given me more skills ”. And it also talks about the depression she faced at a young age. “At 22, I had a severe breakdown. I had to start looking inside myself, there were things I wanted. I stayed with dad until his last day. If I hadn’t been there, I would never have forgiven myself ”.
But the most exciting moment of the interview comes when the Bortone asks Serena that what do you think of your son’s homosexuality. Between emotion and unconditional support, Grandi admits that she does not care that he is gay and that he is happy with it anyway and that he still loves his reason for living. “I didn’t find out right away, I accepted it and today I’m so happy. I will not become a grandmother, perhaps better, because I have no more patience. Or maybe it won’t, anything can happen in life. But he said that I would be the ideal grandmother.[…] I’m proud of him ”.
Also Edoardo he chooses to talk about it freely, not to hide, about living himself in the sunlight: “I was 14 when I received the awareness, I never said anything to mom. I spent some atrocious moments, horrible writings under the house “. But she overcame the obstacles, in the end, thanks also to the support of her mother.
“It is said that people become homosexuals because they have intrusive mothers, but that’s nonsense,” says Serena Bortone bravely. And Edoardo could only agree more: “Comments that I hope will no longer exist one day”.
