The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said last night on “Pink” TV that in the next 10 days the state will transfer funds to all local authorities so that every high school student in Serbia will receive 10,000 dinars (about BGN 160), Tanjug agency reported, quoted from BTA. He said he had discussed with Prime Minister Ana Burnabych and Finance Minister Sinisa Mali additional measures, which mainly apply to those who do not have the right to vote in elections.
“We will pay 10,000 dinars to each high school student, through their mothers or fathers if they live with their father, or through foster families or special centers. We believe this is an important measure before the holidays and that it will help parents save money.” , Vucic pointed out.
The president stated that another measure has been agreed – to transfer 1,000 dinars (16 BGN) to all students through the Post Bank, and the state bank will compensate for this. Post Bank will transfer 1000 dinars and we will compensate them. This means that students will have 1000 dinars plus all the benefits – discounts on trains, plane tickets, shopping chains and more. This will make both students and high school students happy, the Serbian leader said.
Aleksandar Vucic pointed out that even the IMF has assessed that the country’s finances are excellent and that it has funds that even much larger and richer countries than Serbia do not have.
Vucic also stated that in four days, the payment of 20,000 dinars (BGN 340) will begin in aid of pensioners, in five days – to the beneficiaries of social assistance, and in about 10 days – to high school students.
“Every single one of these dinars is welcome. It is important to show the care of the state. To be able to buy a backpack, a sweater, a jacket, especially before Christmas, Christmas, other holidays, to be able to buy an extra gift. To show the state, that she cares. We have never included high school students aged 14 to 18. That’s 235,000 high school students and €20 million, he said.
The Serbian president said he was proud of the stability of the country’s public finances. According to him, Serbia is on the right track, following an increase in wages and the minimum wage to over 47,000 dinars (800 BGN).
“I believe that in the second half of the year one of the conflicts will end, I hope both, and if that happens, a more drastic increase in wages and pensions will follow,” Vucic said and called on citizens to vote in the upcoming elections December 17, because, in his words, “Serbia is not a toy and on this day the fate of the country is decided”.
