Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said today in an address to the nation that Serbia, in accordance with the UN Charter, will on Monday submit a request to hold an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council regarding “Pristina’s escalating moves”. I hope that the majority will vote and the meeting will take place, said Vucic, quoted by Tanjug, BTA writes.
President Vucic said today that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has decided to cancel the use of the Serbian dinar in Kosovo for the purpose of ethnic cleansing of the Serb population of Kosovo, or as written in the Genocide Convention – “deliberately subjecting Serbs to abnormal conditions of life”. He said that Pristina cannot calm down and realize that dialogue is important and must be had “because Kosovo is an unrecognized state”.
“The problem is because Kurti refers to the fact that they are an independent country that can do this, on the other hand it is clear that they are not,” Vucic said. He recalled that from the first Brussels agreement to all subsequent ones and to the EU statute, the most important norm contained in these documents is that Serbia has the right to finance certain activities such as health care, education, pensions for the Serbian population, which had to be carried out through the Union of Serbian Municipalities, Vucic said.

Vucic said that there will be no negotiations between the National Bank of Serbia and the Central Bank of Kosovo on this topic and that Pristina, when it wants these negotiations, is actually asking for recognition. He said Serbia would pay Kosovo Serbs about 22 million euros upfront in wages, pensions and other benefits. “We started paying salaries, pensions and social benefits to our people in Kosovo in advance, long before it was time to pay the February benefits. By 12 o’clock we had already managed to pay about five million,” said Vucic.
The Serbian president said that 922 business entities in the Post Savings Bank will not be able to receive income in dinars and that this is “an additional blow to the economic trends in Serbian communities.”
Yesterday, the implementation of the decision of the Central Bank of Kosovo, which makes the euro the only authorized currency on the territory of Kosovo, began.
