Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Ukraine’s recognition of Kosovo

“If Ukraine recognizes Kosovo, it will lose everything it had,” said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, quoted by N1.

Earlier, Oleksandr Merezhko, chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy in the Ukrainian Parliament, said that there are people’s representatives in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine who support the recognition of Kosovo’s independence and proposed opening a liaison office with Pristina.

The Croatian newspaper “Index” writes that this step by Vucic is a consequence of the letter that a group of representatives of the USA, EU and Great Britain sent at the end of last week to the main Western diplomats. The latter were asked to publicly condemn Serbia for its attempts to disrupt the democratic elections in Kosovo, BGNES recalls.

Oleksandr Merezhko, chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee in the Ukrainian Parliament, also signed the call for a review of the policy towards Belgrade and Pristina.

Vucic said in response to the initiative that “God is a witness” of his efforts to draw attention to the problems faced by the Serbs in Montenegro and that he was defined as a destabilizing factor “only because he does not want to recognize Kosovo as an independent state”.

“I am creating instability in the region as I stand up for the rights of Serbs in Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. If this is my mistake, I am proud of it,” he said.
