A shocking incident has occurred in Serbia, where a 20-year-old man has confessed to killing eight people and injuring 12 others. The suspect was apprehended by the authorities in the municipality where some of the shooting had occurred. Serbia is currently in mourning after two mass shootings – a school massacre in the capital on Wednesday and the other on Thursday, which the suspect has confessed to. Despite strict gun controls, Serbia still grapples with militarily-grade weapons and ordnance related issues. Following the shootings, the government has introduced measures aimed at preventing violence in schools and reducing weapons held by civilians. The entire region is paying respects and mourning the loss of lives. Opposition parties are blaming the government for not preventing the shootings and have called for an anti-government march. Serbia is holding three days of mourning, with entertainment programmes on television suspended.
