Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic expressed dissatisfaction with Ukraine’s vote in the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on Kosovo’s membership in the organization.
This was reported by the Serbian TV channel N1writes “European Truth”.
Dacic noted that the vote of the countries for the start of the procedure for considering Kosovo’s request for membership in the Council of Europe will affect Belgrade’s attitude towards these states in the future.
In the context of the Ukrainian vote, Dacic said he was unpleasantly surprised by Ukraine’s vote.
According to him, Serbia condemns the violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine in all the resolutions of the world, and Kyiv abstained from voting. As you know, Ukraine does not recognize Kosovo independent state.
Dacic also expressed outrage at the vote of other states. In particular, he criticized Montenegro.
“Montenegro voted for the acceptance of Kosovo. They will also need our vote someday, which they will definitely not be able to count on,” the head of Serbian diplomacy said.
Dacic added that there are also claims to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“As for BiH, was there ever a moment in my speech when we did not mention the territorial integrity of BiH? Now, when someone asks, we will abstain. So why did we stand for the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and they abstained? ” Dacic noted.
The minister was also unpleasantly surprised by Greece and Slovakia, he said.
“The minister from Greece was awarded by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. The Greek President said that they do not recognize Kosovo,” Dacic said.
The Serbian Foreign Minister separately thanked everyone who voted against Kosovo’s membership, listing Cyprus, Spain, Romania, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
Dacic especially thanked Hungary, which voted no, even though Budapest officially recognizes Kosovo’s independence.
On April 24, Kosovo passed the first stage of membership in the Council of Europe, having received more than two-thirds of the required votes in support of an application to join the organization.
The Kosovo government said it would apply for Council of Europe membership last spring, seizing the opportunity that came after Russia expelled from this organization.
Admission to the organization requires the approval of two-thirds of the members, and since Russia does not recognize Kosovo as an independent state, there has been a risk in the past that any previous application would be rejected.
