The students of Belgrade, after a two -day course, arrived on Friday, in the city of Novi Sad where their local university colleagues were welcomed. Earlier in Novi Sant, cyclist students arrived in Novi Sad who started from the capital today. Together they headed to the train station where the cornice collapsed on November 1, 2024, killing 15 people. Students at the scene of the tragedy deposited 15 wreaths and kept 15 minutes silence to honor the victims. Tomorrow at Novi Sant, on the three -month anniversary of the tragedy, students will block the three bridges on the Danube River that flows through the city.
Student mobilizations in Serbia began two and a half months ago with occupations in schools and demonstrations demanding responsibility for the deaths of 15 people at Novi Sad Railway Station.

The President of the Republic Aleksandar Vucic on a tour of Central Serbia said “the country is being attacked by internal and abroad” and described the mobilizations as xenophobic. “What has been happening in recent months is an immediate effort to foreign secret services that are seeking to destroy our country,” Vucic said in a speech in the city of Trsnik. He categorically rejected the possibility of allowing the formation of a transitional government and claimed that after the prime minister’s resignation he visited him “an important stranger”, which he did not name, and suggested that he set up a transitional government of experts. In his speech, Vucic reiterated that he would defend the country’s sovereignty, never recognize Kosovo’s independence and will not betray friends. “We need to protect our country and our friends. That is why there will be no sanctions against the Russian Federation, so we will maintain and build friendship with China and therefore protect Serbia’s freedom, because freedom is the highest value of this country. This is my message to all the citizens of Serbia, but also to all these strangers who are trying to revolutionize, “Vucic said.
