President Aleksandar Vucic said on TV Prva this morning that it could happen that Serbia will be sanctioned by the European Union if it does not impose sanctions on Russia, Serbian media reported.
On the issue of sanctions against Russia, Vucic said Serbia is doing what is in the country’s interest and will continue to do so. “Serbia is behaving responsibly and seriously, Serbia is nobody’s servant, it does not carry out orders from either America or Russia. Serbia is an independent and sovereign country,” Vucic said.
He said he was worried about the situation in Ukraine, especially US President Joe Biden’s statement that the conflict would be long. According to him, the Russians use the same vocabulary in their information about the conflict in Ukraine as the United States and Western European countries used in information about NATO’s aggression against Serbia in 1999. Vucic noted that the Russians say they are preventing genocide in Donbas. NATO countries have said they are preventing genocide in Kosovo.
