Serbia may refuse to extradite Tsvetan Vassilev – 2024-10-02 06:27:57

/ world today news/ The Bulgarian court made a serious mistake. He accepted that since Tsvetan Vassilev was not actually detained, he had no right to appeal this measure. This was announced in the program “Face to face” on bTV Adv. Mikhail Ekimdzhiev.

According to him, this is a violation of Art. 5, paragraph. 4 of the Convention on Human Rights, according to which every person has the right to appeal his sentence, regardless of where he is. This could torpedo attempts to return Mr. Vassilev to Bulgaria. There is one other article, according to which the country, in this case Serbia, can refuse extradition if there was not enough guarantee for the realization of protection, the jurist said categorically. Precisely because of this refusal for the Bulgarian court to take responsibility, the Serbian court has the right to refuse the extradition, he explained.

The chief prosecutor cannot be investigated and personally, with his puppets in the SJC, he can influence the career development of judges, including those who are looking at the measure of Tsvetan Vasilev, stressed Adv. Ekimdzhiev. The Serbian court, he believes, has sufficient grounds to refuse the extradition of Tsvetan Vassilev. In such a case, according to him, the Bulgarian court cannot appeal the decision.
