Serbia is starting to operate an improved system for measuring the average speed and monitoring on all highways, the traffic police said, as quoted by the Beta agency.
This is also for the attention of Bulgarian drivers who drive through our western neighbor.
The police will measure the average speed in cooperation with the company “Roads of Serbia”, announced the Serbian Ministry of the Interior.
It is planned that in the first phase of this project, the average speed will be measured in about 50 sections throughout Serbia”, specifies the Ministry of the Interior in Belgrade.
In addition to measuring speed, this system will be able to detect whether the driver and passengers in the car are wearing seat belts, as well as whether the driver is using a mobile phone illegally while driving.
In the last five years, on average, about 40 road users have died annually in traffic accidents on the highways, the most common cause of which is excessive speed, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.
The above does not mean that the radars, which are well-known in our country, are no longer available – on the contrary. It is clarified that the traffic police in Serbia will continue to control the speed with their help.
