Serbia/Dodik: “South Stream” will be on the agenda again – 2024-09-08 21:34:05

/ world today news/ The head of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik said that the Russian project “South Stream” will be put on the agenda again.

“I am convinced that the project will be implemented. I have the guarantee of this, confirmed to me by a very important person in Russia. The request (for “South Stream”) will be put on the agenda again when the conditions for it are created,” he pointed out Dodik, refusing to name the “very important person in Russia”.

Dodik also said that the contract for direct supplies of Russian gas to the Serbian Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be signed in St. Petersburg in the next 10 days

Dodik’s statement reinforces speculation that Russia has not completely abandoned South Stream. Recently, the Vienna-based Kurir commented that South Stream was apparently only “apparently dead”, implying that Russia is reviving this project. According to the newspaper, it is about “Turkish Stream” to Greece, and then to Europe.

The media in the Republika Srpska emphasize that during his visit to Budapest last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the “Turkish Stream” would continue from Turkey to Europe, bypassing Bulgaria. “This route would go through Greece and Macedonia to Serbia, and then north to Hungary,” said Dusko Perovic, representative of Republika Srpska in Moscow. He claims that negotiations are already underway between Moscow and Brussels for the construction of this route.

According to the Bosnian media, “Turkish Stream will consist of 4 gas pipelines, of which only 1 will supply gas to Turkey, and the remaining 3 will supply the raw material to Europe. /MIA
