SERANG, RADARBANTEN.CO.ID- The Serang District Health Service (Dinkes) found an additional 27 cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DBD) in the last two days.
This can be seen from the data on dengue fever cases in Serang Regency which experienced an increase in cases in February from 38 cases based on the latest data received by RADARBANTEN on the 26th to 68 dengue fever cases on the latest data as of February 28 2024.
The Manager of the Animal Source Disease Program (P2BB) at the Serang District Health Office, Pipih Saripah, said that from data on the development of dengue cases, there was an increase in cases from the previous year. Where last year there were only 38 cases of dengue fever that occurred from January to February 2024.
Meanwhile, this year, there have been approximately 126 reports of dengue fever cases received by the Serang District Health Office. Of these cases, it was handled well so that no one died.
“In January there were 61 cases of dengue fever, while for February until today we have received reports of 65 cases,” he said when contacted by telephone, Wednesday, February 28 2024.
Of the number of cases, there are three sub-districts that have the most dengue cases, namely Peteir, Kramatwatu and Ciomas sub-districts. “The most cases were in the Petir area with 7 cases, Kramatwatu 7 cases and Ciomas 5 cases,” he explained.
He said that there were factors that caused the spike in cases in early 2024, the main factors being influenced by weather conditions and environmental conditions that were less clean.
“The main factor causing the spike in dengue fever cases is due to the change of season because now it is the rainy season, lots of mosquito larvae appear,” stressed him.
According to him, in order to anticipate a spike in cases, the community must play an active role in preventing the mosquitoes that cause dengue fever from breeding. One of them is cleaning the environment from rubbish that can hold water.
“Apart from that, by eradicating mosquito nests, abatization is provided to kill mosquito larvae, because in the rainy season the mosquito larvae breed into adult mosquitoes,” he stressed.
Apart from abatization, his party also took other measures to kill adult mosquitoes, namely by carrying out fogging in a number of areas that had a large number of cases.
“Our final step is also to carry out fogging in the Kramatwatu, Petir, Ciomas sub-districts,” he concluded.
