September 25 end of 1.5-meter rule, corona pass in catering and theater

From Saturday 25 September, the Dutch will no longer have to keep a distance of one and a half meters. However, a corona admission ticket must be shown in many more places; for example in the hospitality industry, cinema and theatre.

This report from The Hague sources to the NOS, after the cabinet had been in consultation for hours in the Catshuis this afternoon.

A mouth cap obligation remains in force in public transport, according to sources from The Hague. No decision has yet been made on the event sector. A solution is being sought.

The opening hours for the night catering industry will not be relaxed. It remains closed between 24.00 and 06.00 in the morning.

Vaccination rate

Next Tuesday, outgoing Prime Minister Rutte and Minister De Jonge will announce all measures from September 25 at a press conference. Today the most concerned ministers in the Catshuis already had a preliminary meeting with the experts of the Outbreak Management Team. A decision has already been made there on the most important relaxations in the corona crisis.

The cabinet would like to put an end to most corona rules now that more and more Dutch people, just under 80 percent of adults, have been vaccinated.

Peak

But there are still 1.8 million people who have not had a vaccine or for whom the vaccine does not provide sufficient protection. In order to prevent a peak of corona infections and thus burden healthcare again, the cabinet has decided not to release all measures yet, as is being done in Denmark, for example.

The event industry and the night catering industry are fervently hoping for relaxation. Yesterday, tens of thousands of people, in ten different cities, took to the streets to urge the cabinet to further reopen the events sector.
