Sepp Kuss mortgaged the 2023 Vuelta de España: the American rider from Jumbo-Visma retained the red jersey as leader of the general classification at the end of the 20th stage of the competition, the 208 km Manzanares El Real-Guadarrama. The stage was won by Poels in a sprint ahead of Evenepoel.

Kuss cruised through the 10 third-category GPMs that characterized the stage unscathed, keeping the distance with teammates Jonas Vingegaard and Primoz Roglic, proving that Jumbo-Visma dominated the race (and the entire 2023 Grand Tours, given the success at the Giro d’Italia and the Tour).

Fourth place for Juan Ayuso from Uae Team Emirates, then Mikel Landa from Bahrain Victorious and Enric Mas from the Movistar team. Return Evenepoel, twelfth to 40th, while the first Italian in the ranking was Antonio Tiberi, eighteenth.

Sunday saw the consecration of Kuss’s former servant, with the 101 kilometer bridge with the arrival in Madrid.
