The People Power Party, which has been promoting a ‘strong ruling party candidate’, emphasized that candidate Kim Tae-woo, who made pledges such as downtown redevelopment until the end, is the right person to look after the people’s livelihood.
<유상범 / 국민의힘 수석대변인(MBC라디오 김종배의 시선집중)> “After the Chuseok holiday, the local residents’ response to the ‘worker theory’ is very high… It is a worthy competition.”
Party leaders, including Representative Kim Ki-hyun and Floor Leader Yoon Jae-ok, also gathered in Gangseo-gu after completing the first day of the National Assembly audit.
<김기현 / 국민의힘 대표> “If you become Kim Tae-woo, the ruling party will give you a lot of support, everyone! That’s why you have to become a powerful district mayor.”
The Democratic Party, which has advocated ‘government judgment’, once again emphasized that this election is ‘an opportunity to judge the regime that destroyed the people’s livelihood and economy.’
<홍익표 / 더불어민주당 원내대표> “I appeal to you to stop the Yoon Seok-yeol government’s recklessness and incompetence. Please vote for the future of the Republic of Korea and Gangseo-gu.”
In the afternoon, the leadership and top committee members gathered at the campaign site and worked together to rally support at the last minute.
<정청래 / 더불어민주당 최고위원> “Getting candidate Jin Kyo-hoon elected is the way to judge the Yoon Seok-yeol regime. An election that protects the Democratic Party and party leader Lee Jae-myung…”
The early voting rate for the Gangseo-gu mayor was 22.64%, the highest among all local elections and by-elections in history.
While the ruling and opposition parties presented a favorable interpretation, saying that it was the result of their respective supporters consolidating, the leadership of each party is expected to be directly affected by the results of the by-election as the general election is six months away.
The main vote for the Gangseo-gu mayor by-election will be held from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
