A white Mercedes Benz car slowly reverses in the apartment car park.

Then, the speed increases suddenly and he hits parked cars one after the other.

The red light comes on when I apply the brakes several times, but this time the vehicle runs forward.

He then hits five more cars before coming to a stop.

The driver was a security guard in his 70s who had worked at this apartment complex for over 10 years.

As parking is a real problem, most residents leave their car keys at the security office and have security guards tow away double-parked vehicles for them. .

The security guard who met with MBC said that it was clear that he applied the brakes in an emergency situation.

″<계속 브레이크를 밟고요?> There are. A red light came on. While he was kicking away, a red light came on. ”

“Then (the security company) told me to write a letter of resignation. But I couldn’t do it because I was scared, so I wrote it. “I had no choice but to do that.”

The owner of the Mercedes-Benz vehicle, who saw the accident in front of him, called a lawyer together with the security guard and decided to take legal action against Mercedes-Benz Korea.

“It’s so unfair because both the security guard and I are unfortunate victims and they have to take responsibility.”

Over the past 14 years, the number of suspected sudden acceleration accidents in Korea has reached 791, but not one case has yet been identified as a true sudden acceleration.

Under current law, consumers must directly prove sudden acceleration, but the law change to place the burden of proof on the manufacturer has not passed the 21st National Assembly.

Mercedes-Benz Korea said, “We plan to do our best to support customer requests, including analyzing the vehicle’s driving information and identifying the cause.”

The owner of the car and the security guard plan to hold a press conference tomorrow and announce their plans for legal action.
