Choi Bo-seon, a candidate for the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, resigned. Candidate Choi said he would support candidate Jeong Geun-sik, who was selected as the only advanced candidate.

Candidate Choi held a press conference in front of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education on the 12th and resigned, saying, “Candidate Jeong Geun-sik is the right person to be in charge of education in Seoul.” Candidate Chung was also present at this event.

Candidate Choi, a former member of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, ran independently without participating in the debate on unifying the progressive camp for director general of education candidates, but changed his mind on this day.

As a result, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education by-election will be held as a three-way race between candidates Jeong Geun-sik, Cho Jeon-hyuk, and Yoon Ho-sang. Candidate Jeong is promoting a ‘new right education critique for Japan’, candidate Jeon-Hyeok Cho is promoting ‘normalization of education for the first time in 10 years’, and candidate Ho-Sang Yoon is promoting ‘reducing the burden of children’s education’.

The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education by-election will be held on the 16th from 6am to 8pm.
