□ The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 4th that, at the request of Jeollabuk-do, it provided support for 50 portable toilets at the Jamboree site, which is being held in extreme heat and poor conditions.
□ Currently, the 「25th World Scout Jamboree」 is held in Saemangeum, Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do from August 1st to 12th, and about 40,000 youths from 150 countries are participating. However, due to the heatwave with a perceived temperature of over 40 degrees Celsius, patients suffering from heat fever are appearing one after another, and essential facilities such as toilets and shower rooms are lacking.
□ Accordingly, for the safe and successful progress of this Jamboree, the city of Seoul decided to urgently arrange movable toilet rental companies and promptly support 50 movable toilets at the venue through the External Cooperation Fund.
○ As of August 4 (Fri), 29 portable toilets are scheduled to be installed directly on site
○ August 5 (Sat) 21 buildings scheduled to be installed
□ Yoo Chang-soo, the 2nd Vice Mayor of Administration, said, “As the 「25th World Scout Jamboree」 being held in Saemangeum is a global event in which youths from all over the world participate, it should be seen as a national event, not an event unique to Jeollabuk-do. For the participants who are experiencing inconvenience at the site due to the current heat wave and lack of various essential facilities, the Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to provide all available resources.”
