– The Democratic Party continues a close battle with the people’s strength after two months of the Seoul Mayor’s by-election.

On the 22nd, Real Meter announced the results of a survey surveyed on 3010 people aged 18 and over nationwide on the 15th-19th, commissioned by YTN.

According to this survey, the support rate of the people in Seoul was 32.6%, up 2.5 percentage points from the previous week. The Democratic Party fell 2.2 percentage points to 29.5%. The gap between the two parties is 3.1 percentage points.

In Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongnam, where the Busan mayoral by-election is scheduled, the approval rating of the people rose 1.2 percentage points from a week ago to 36.1%. The Democratic Party approval rating fell 2.4 percentage points to 25.6%. The gap is 10.5 percentage points.

The national approval rating was 31.8%, up 0.7 percentage points in the people’s power, and 31.6%, down 1.4 percentage points in the Democratic Party. The gap between the two parties’ approval rating is 0.2 percentage points. The People’s Party was followed by 7.9%, the Open Democratic Party (6.0%), and the Justice Party (4.7%).

Realmeter analyzed that this investigation was influenced by the controversy over illegal inspections during the Lee Myung-bak (MB) administration, exposure of the conflict between Shin Hyun-soo, chief executive officer of the Blue House, and the Justice Minister Park Beom-gye, the resignation of Supreme Court Chief Kim Myung-soo, and the debate on the by-election of Seoul-Busan mayors.

President Moon Jae-in’s approval rating (positive evaluation) recorded 40.6%, down 0.7 percentage points from the previous week.

The negative evaluation was surveyed to 56.1%, an increase of 1.4 percentage points. 3.3% did not know and did not respond. The difference between the positive and negative evaluations is 15.5%, which is outside the margin of error.

The sample error of this survey is ±1.8% point at 95% confidence level. For more information, refer to the Real Meter website or the Central Election Survey Deliberation Committee.
