Fulham entered the race for Hwang Eui-jo.
[골닷컴] Correspondent Choi Dae-hoon = Fulham FC, the Premier League ‘promotion team’, which signed Seol Ki-hyeon in 2007 and made its name widely known to Korean fans, joined the race to sign Hwang Ui-jo (Girondaeng de Bordeaux).
On the 12th (Korean time), British media ‘Evening Standard’ said, “Fulham, who is discussing with Justin Kluivert (AS Roma) and Joshua Zirgjay (Bayern Munich), has entered the race for Hwang’s signing. To do this, I proposed to Bordeaux 4 million pounds (about 6.3 billion won).”
Hwang Ui-jo, 29, has only one year left on his contract with Bordeaux, and is receiving love calls from many clubs. While Ui-Jo Hwang is known to prefer a move to the Premier League, Wolverhampton Wanderers, which includes teammate Hwang Hee-chan, and another promotion team, Nottingham Forest, are concentrating on signing him.
Fulham manager Marco Silva is focused on signing a new striker before the transfer window closes on September 1 and is interested in Hwang Ui-jo, who can play in a wide area. Silva has directed transfer experts such as Tony Kahn and Alistair McIntosh to move further after the club has been active in the transfer market, including the signing of Isa Dioff.
According to ‘Evening Standard’, Fulham are negotiating with Roma’s Kluivert and Munich’s Joshua Zirgsey, as well as signing Hwang Ui-jo.
Zirgjay is a tall striker, but Kluivert is a winger. Judging by the fact that Fulham, who were trying to sign them, are showing interest in Hwang, it seems that Silva is planning to use Hwang not only in the center, but also in the flanks.
Hwang Ui-jo played mainly as a center forward in Bordeaux in the 2021/22 season, and rarely played as a winger. However, as Hwang comes down to a wide area to receive the ball and shows a lot of activity throughout the game, his performance on his side is also worth looking forward to.
Hwang Ui-jo, who joined Bordeaux ahead of the 2019/20 season, scored 29 goals and provided 7 assists in 97 games over three seasons. In terms of the number of goals scored alone of 29 goals, Hwang’s record is poor rather than excellent. However, considering that Bordeaux was the weakest team in the French Ligue 1 and even got relegated, it can be seen that he has decent scoring ability.
Hwang Ui-jo, who has experienced the French stage beyond Korea and Japan, is about to enter the Premier League, which is called the best league in the world. If Hwang Ui-Jo goes to Fulham, Fulham will have a Korean Premier League for the first time in 15 years.
