‘Related to the government’s conscription resolution’ Post on Facebook “It’s 下之下策 that leads to international disputes” 野 “Apologize for your absurd remarks and step down immediately”
Seok Dong-hyeon (pictured), secretary general of the Advisory Council for Democratic Peace and Unification (Democratic Peace and Unification), argued that “let’s stop asking Japan for reflection or apology” regarding the government’s announced solution for compensating victims of forced labor during the Japanese occupation.
On the 7th, Secretary-General Seok said on Facebook about the government’s solution, saying, “What a dignified and dignified solution it is,” and “I applaud President Yoon.” He continued, “Now, let’s break away from the miserable perceptions of the leftists who drive us as if we were still under Japanese colonial rule and had to do an independence movement.” “Let’s stop asking Japan for reflection or apology! Among the countries that were colonized (by Japan), is there any other country other than Korea that still insists on an apology or compensation?”
Regarding the protests of the victims, Secretary General Seok said, “It does not mean that the state arbitrarily deprives individual citizens of their right to make claims, but instead of prohibiting individual citizens from exercising their right to make claims for the greater good, it should be understood as the concept of compensation from the state.” He wrote, “The state’s failure to persuade (victims) individual feelings of victimization and leading it to an international dispute is a countermeasure for ignorance of international relations.”
Secretary General Seok was a former prosecutor and worked as a lawyer since 2013 after serving as chief of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutor’s Office. He, who has been friends with President Yoon since college, has been serving as the vice-ministerial level secretary general of the Democratic Unification Council since October of last year.
In response to this claim by Secretary General Seok, the Democratic Party strongly protested, saying, “Please apologize for insulting the public.” Democratic Party spokesperson Lee Soo-jin said, “I feel a sense of contempt for our country to be a country that uses evil against Japan.”
