Sentil COVID-19 Task Force 2 of the Most ‘Stubborn’ Provinces About Health Care

Jakarta

Task Force COVID-19 said the relaxation of the tightening made residents ignore health protocols. The two provinces were called the most ‘stubborn’ in terms of compliance with wearing masks and maintaining social distance.

“Relaxation is misinterpreted as a safe condition so that health protocols are forgotten,” said the spokesman for the COVID-19 Task Force, Prof. Wiku Adisasmito, Tuesday (20/7/2021).

Prof. Wiku said, as many as 26 percent of villages and sub-districts in Indonesia had low compliance in terms of using masks in the past week. As for social distancing, 28 percent of villages and sub-districts also have low compliance.

“Restaurants, residential areas, and public sports venues are the locations where crowds have the lowest compliance,” he said.

Especially in the Java-Bali region, Prof. Wiku mentioned Banten and DKI Jakarta as the areas with the lowest compliance.

“The most villages/kelurahan that do not comply with wearing masks are in Banten at 28.57 percent,” said Prof Wiku.

“As for the villages that do not obey to keep their distance, DKI Jakarta being the province with the most urban villages, namely 48.26 percent, or almost half of the urban villages in DKI Jakarta, the people are not obedient in maintaining their distance,” he continued

According to Prof. Wiku, strict supervision and action are important to maintain compliance. For areas with low compliance, several considerations are needed before relaxation, including the commitment of all parties.
