On March 16, Long went to three different massage and spa salons in Georgia. Here he killed eight people, another was injured.
The 22-year-old pleaded guilty to four of the murders in a court in Canton, Georgia, where he received a life sentence on Tuesday. The confession probably came because Long wanted to avoid the death penalty. The remaining four murders will be heard by a court in Atlanta, which is also located in Georgia.

Long could be sentenced to death if he is found guilty in Atlanta as well, where he is also charged with terrorism. The prosecution there has stated that they will try to get him convicted of hate crime.
Six of those killed were Asian American women. The massacre led to a major debate about hate crimes against Asian Americans in the United States, which skyrocketed during the pandemic.
