Mardani Mamaming was sentenced to 10 years in prison in connection with the mining permit bribery case. The former district head of Tanah Bumbu also felt slandered about corruption.
“Thank you, Your Honor. What was conveyed by Your Majesty, which was considered to be corruption, was the company’s income being used as a tool for corruption. I feel that is not true and it is all slander against me,” said Maming in a trial at the Banjarmasin District Court which he participated in virtually, Friday (10/2/2023).
Mardani also asked for seven days to decide whether to appeal or not against the verdict. He said he would consult with his attorney first.
“I will ask for my right to think 7 days, I will consult my legal team, I will decide later, Your Honor. Thank you,” he said.
monitoring detikcom, Mardani Maming leaves the KPK building, Jalan Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, after undergoing a virtual trial. Maming chose to answer briefly about the verdict of the panel of judges at the Banjarmasin District Court.
While making an apology gesture, Maming rushed into the KPK detention car. He only said that he had conveyed in court the matter of the 10-year sentence handed down to him.
“I already told you earlier,” said Maming.
Maming Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison
Former Tanah Bumbu Regent Mardani Maming is undergoing a sentencing hearing in the Rp 118 billion bribe case. Maming was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
“Handling the defendant Mardani H. Maming for that reason with imprisonment for 10 years and a fine of Rp. 500 million with the provision that if the fine is not paid it is replaced with imprisonment for 4 months,” said the judge at the Banjarmasin District Court.
Apart from being sentenced to 10 years in prison, Maming was also asked to pay a compensation of IDR 110 billion.
“To sentence the defendant to pay compensation in the amount of IDR 110,604,731,752,” said the judge
The replacement money must be paid by Maming within one month after the court decision. If it is not fulfilled, the prosecutor can confiscate Maming’s property to be auctioned off.
