Friday, April 18, 2008. Valérie is heard by an examining magistrate. The magistrate has his brother’s file in his hands, Fabrice Motch, a firefighter from Yvelines specializing in forest fires. He also takes care of the training of young people at the center of Montigny-le-Bretonneux (Yvelines).
A few months earlier, on September 15, 2007, the man we thought was above suspicion was arrested. Inside the barracks, he drugged teenagers and then filmed sexual touching.
The first case
The case had been judged behind closed doors… Monday, May 17, 2010, the dismissed officer of the Yvelines fire department appeared for the first time before the Assize Court. A dozen young volunteer firefighters were attacked between 2003 and 2007.
On September 15, 2007, around 10 p.m., a young 16-year-old trainee had informed the police when the captain had just tried to rape him. Previously, he had asked her to swallow three pills “to recover from her sporting efforts”. Investigation will reveal that it is Rohypnol, a drug used to treat insomnia and anxiety. It can also cause periods of amnesia when taken with alcohol. This was the case with a mixture of rum and cane sugar.
During his trial, Fabrice Motch expressed “little sexual desire for his wife and was rather attracted to young boys. At his house, we will find a CD-Rom containing child pornography files. It will also validate the image told by young volunteer firefighters: “manipulative, brittle, authoritarian, even humiliating. »
For these facts, he will be sentenced to 15 years of criminal imprisonment.
The missing resurfaces
Valérie takes advantage of the opportunity given to her to sit down to eat. To the magistrate, she reveals that Fabrice was also the lover of the wife of a certain Philippe Pico in 1996. At the time, he had asked her for help in killing him. She had refused.
Philippe Pico… This name immediately resonates in the halls of the courthouse. Officially, this 46-year-old repairman is missing from his home in Magny-les-Hameaux since December 1996. At the time, the police tried everything to find him. They searched the forest from top to bottom. No trace.
On January 26, 2009, Motch was taken from his cell. The judge wants to question him about this story. And bluntly, he admits.
In fact, it will do more than that. He will tell in detail the horror of a night.
The prescription game
Why did the prescription not play in favor of Fabrice Motch? The law provides for a 10-year period in matters of assassination. There, we have exceeded two decades…
To decide, the investigating chamber relied on very factual elements. When Philippe Pico disappeared, there was no indication that he had been killed. The man could quite possibly have wanted to vanish into thin air, to change his life.
It is therefore the date of the revelation of the facts, during the confession of Motch’s sister, which was chosen by the courts as a point of reference. And there, the prescription no longer held.
Drugged, drained of blood, cut up
One Sunday evening, he summons his brother Lionel who has unlimited admiration for him. Appointment with Pico who is already comatose in his bed, drugged. Motch decides to finish him off by strangling him. He and his brother carry his body to the bathtub to literally drain him of his blood. During this time, the lover keeps watch in case the two children wake up.
The Machiavellian duo carries the remains to the kitchen table. The same one where the little ones will have breakfast the next morning while worrying about the disappearance of their father… Sordid.
There, the body of Philippe Pico is cut into pieces. Everything is wrapped in cling film, then garbage bags and finally sports bags. Some will be thrown in the garbage. others in the Seine.
And then… Radio silence. ‘Cause the horrible trio made a pact : no one should ever talk about this evening prepared for a long time by Fabrice Motch.
The reason ? The firefighter explained it simply before the jurors of the Assize Court of Yvelines, in September 2017.
“Pico was a domestic, violent and alcoholic tyrant. I decided to kill him after talking to him one evening in the streets of Chevreuse. Pico told me he thought his wife had a lover. He didn’t know it was me. He told me he was going to find it, smoke it. And that there would be gasoline for everyone at Christmas. He was talking about his wife and children. »
After several days of trial, the popular jury sentences the ex-fire captain to criminal imprisonment at perpetuity. Seven years earlier, he had already been sentenced to 15 years for rape and sexual assault.
Her brother Lionel gets 17 years while the lover takes 25 years. While appearing freely, they are immediately placed in detention.
Thus ends a story that dates back more than 20 years.
