According to the government’s decision, the assets of “Sense Bank” will be taken over by the State Export and Import Bank of Ukraine.
Customers are guaranteed the safety of their deposits.
“Sense Bank”, formerly known as “Alfa-Bank Ukraina”, used to be part of the Russian “Alfa-Bank” structure. Its shareholders were Russian billionaires Aven, Mikhail Fridman and Andrei Kosogov.
Alfa-Bank Ukraina was renamed Sense Bank in March 2022, shortly after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began. At the same time, its main owners were excluded from the management of the bank.
As businessmen close to the Russian government, Aven and Fridman have been sanctioned by the European Union and Ukraine. In May 2022, Ukraine announced the seizure of Fridman’s assets worth $420 million, which were kept at Alfa-Bank Ukraine.
The Central Bank of Ukraine stated that “Sense Bank” will be under state management until the end of martial law in Ukraine. Then it can be privatized.
