Sensational start for Southeast Bavaria teams – and a new coach…

25th match day in the Regionalliga Bayern with six Saturday games +++ Burghausen, Hankofen and Vilzing win +++ Fürth surprises +++ Illertissen with an away three

At the beginning of today’s regional league game TSV Rain against FC Pipinsried, all eyes were on the sidelines of the recently badly battered Lechstadt team: After head coach Martin Weng and the Müller brothers announced their resignation after the recent turbulence (FuPa reported), they turned themselves in the question in which constellation the team will appear – and who will take over the shop as a trainer. The answer is: Max Käser, who has been at TSV since 2017.

With his first appearance he ensured a typical Rain result: 0-0 draw. “I’m satisfied with today’s point – especially after the past few difficult weeks“, says the former TSV striker, who, according to his own statements, had no contact with the internal “tumult” after his premiere on the Rainer sidelines. The 29-year-old, who after his serious knee injury last season, probably no longer will return to the pitch as a forward, describes the feeling of being a coach for the first time as “nothing special“. Rather, he speaks of a “great start” for himself and the team – and now I want to continue step by step. The start seems to have been successful. But the division of points shouldn’t really help the home side or the Pipinsrieders, who are also threatened with relegation.

For the south-east Bavarian regional league teams, the start after the winter break was extremely successful: Wacker Burghausen (3-0 against Schweinfurt), Hankofen-Hailing (2-0 against SpVgg Ansbach) and DJK Vilzing (1-0 away win in Aubstadt) were allowed to play be happy about three fat points for the credit account.

In Fürth, the Little Clover Leaves surprisingly had the upper hand against Viktoria Aschaffenburg, who was (still) third. And the FV Illertissen drives back to the district of Neu-Ulm with three well-deserved points from Augsburg.

A zero number for the new coach at the start – it could have been worse after a game that had very few highlights to offer overall. Blood, sweat and tears, to sum it up, dominated this hard-fought game.

The game from the point of view of Rain’s new coach Max Käser: “Today it was about the team being back on the pitch and forming a unit. The chances for a goal were there. Overall, we were the better team and would have deserved the three points. The start was right – We can definitely continue with the way we played today.”

With the draw, TSV Rain moved down one place in the table to rank 15 and thus entered the relegation zone for the first time. The team from the Dachau hinterland, on the other hand, remains in 19th place – six points behind the “saving line”.

Today was a more than successful and extremely impressive opening win for SV Wacker Burghausen, which at no point in the game left any doubt that they would not leave the pitch as winners. Twice Läubli and once Djayo made everything clear in the first half against Schweinfurt, who never gave up fighting, but who never really got into the game – and couldn’t take their few chances in front of goal. With win number nine of the season, coach Hannes Sigurdsson’s team have moved up from eighth to seventh. The Schnüdel are apparently continuing their descent even after the winter break – for them it’s going from ten back to twelve.

If there is a surprise on the day of the match, then it is probably the victory of the Fürth U23 against the Aschaffenburg team, who played strongly before the winter break. After the first half was still relatively even, the (Klee)blatt turned in favor of the home side in the second half, who were able to close the sack with Grimb’s opening goal after the break and Adlung’s double strike ten minutes before the end (after two assists from Grimbs). In the next few days, Jochen Seitz and his boys will have to analyze why Viktoria failed today. Fürth climbs from 17 to 16, Lower Franconia remain in third place for the time being.

The few spectators in the Rosenau promised a duel at eye level due to the current table situation. This was also the case for a long time, although Illertissen designed the game more and more in his favor. And then came the hour of FVI midfielder Yannick Glessing, who initially provided the guest lead five minutes before the break whistle – and was able to expand this further five minutes after the restart. The goal from Augsburg’s Ivanovic ten minutes before the end caused tension again for a short time, but in the end the Bachthaler-Elf got a well-deserved away three-pointer in the Fuggerstadt. Augsburg’s U23s are now eleventh in the table, Illertissen jumps from twelve to nine.
