Lazio defeated Bayern (Munich) 1:0 in the first match of the 1/8 finals of the Champions League. The rematch is on March 5, writes “Blitz”.
The Bavarians created their first dangerous attack in the second minute. Leroy Sane combined with Joshua Kimmich on the edge of the box but he fired wide of the right post.
Five minutes later, Harry Kane controlled the ball in the box but fired over the crossbar.
Lazio showed their teeth in the 22nd minute after Luis Alberto’s shot went over the crossbar.
By the end of the half, Bayern missed two opportunities to open the scoring. Leroy Sane missed the first in the 32nd minute and Jamal Musiala wasted the second five minutes from time.
Lazio could have taken the lead in the opening minutes of the second half when Gustav Isaksen burst in behind the Bayern defence, but his shot was saved.
Bayern were a man down in the 67th minute after Dayo Upamecano’s straight red card for a foul in the box. Ciro Immobile took the awarded penalty and turned it into a goal with a shot into Neuer’s back corner for 1:0.
After the goal, the Bavarians went forward and made several attacks, but to no avail.
