This microphone can handle any application situation
Wednesday, Germany – Media OutReach Newswire – October 9, 2024 – Someone once said that if you listen to music, you may have heard the sound of MD 421. Over the past six decades, this Sennheiser microphone has appeared in countless award-winning shows and productions. Now, Sennheiser launches the MD 421 Kompakt, a highly flexible microphone that delivers the same outstanding performance, but in a truly flexible package – including a mounting clip on new design. The MD 421 Kompakt uses a cardioid pickup pattern with excellent dynamic range, delivering clear and transparent sound quality in live sound and recording applications.

“The MD 421 is an extremely versatile microphone. Since its introduction in 1960, it has not only been an excellent studio and microphone, it has been widely used in broadcasting and has been used by many celebrities. Launched in 1998, the MD 421-II is a versatile, versatile microphone that is now widely used on drums, guitar amps and wind instruments,” says Bertram Zimmermann, Live Sound and Manager Studio sound source is rich in detail and the sound quality is full.”
“The MD 421 Kompakt delivers the same great sound and high SPL handling capabilities in a very compact package,” said Jimmy Landry, MI Product Division Marketing Manager.
Compact design still delivers outstanding sound quality
To ensure that the MD 421 microphone retains its large diaphragm microphone head and the same true sound quality as the larger MD 421-II microphone while compact in size, the bass roll damping switch has been removed from the product design. “This feature made perfect sense when the MD 421 was designed, and is still used in the MD 421-II. Eliminating this switch allowed us to create a relatively small mic body, making the Kompakt a great tom mic as well as a versatile tool for a variety of recording or live applications.”
In terms of sound quality, the MD 421 Kompakt is the same as the renowned MD 421 and MD 421-II, capable of faithfully and delicately reproducing sound sources. The microphone has a frequency response range of 30Hz to 17kHz, capable of faithfully reproducing high and low frequency sounds, and the bass tube ensures accuracy and extension of the low frequency response. The sound quality is rich and full, but also very clear and detailed.
The MD 421 Kompakt also effectively suppresses sound feedback and can handle very high sound pressure levels even in challenging environments.

The drum version of the MD 421 Kompakt comes with a drum clamp that screws securely into the redesigned microphone clip, providing a foolproof security tool for drumming.
The newly designed MD 421 Kompakt clip is now integrated into the microphone housing, making installation easy and hassle-free. “Users have been somewhat critical of the clip design,” said Landry “The new clip is part of the microphone body, and the optional drum clip can be securely screwed onto this clip to ensure that a fool is put in on the drum.”
Strong and durable
The MD 421 Kompakt is designed to withstand the rigors of touring and heavy studio use. It has a durable frame with a stainless steel grill and gold-plated XLR-3 connectors. Internal protective coating on the bottom reduces dust and moisture build-up.
