Sennheiser has presented the Momentum 4 Wireless, the successor to the Momentum 3 Wireless. The fourth model has a more traditional design than the retro design of its predecessor. The new headphones also have more than three times longer battery life.
Of Momentum 4 Wireless Headphones have a 700mAh battery with which, according to Sennheiser, a battery life of up to 60 hours is possible if bluetooth is used and the active noise canceling is on. The company says it tested this with an iPhone at the medium volume level.
The battery life is a significant treble of the Momentum 3 Wireless, which still had a battery life of up to 17 hours. The new headphones are also charged faster. The Momentum 3 Wireless takes three hours to fully charge; with the new headphones, this should be ready in about two hours. The headphones can be used for four hours on a five-minute charge. Charging is via the USB-C port.
Sennheiser doesn’t seem to have changed much about the speakers; the company still talks about 42mm drivers. The headphones include a Transparency Mode to let in sound from outside the headphones at the touch of a button, and a new Sound Personalization feature. The latter analyzes according to Sennheiser the user’s listening preferences and adjusts ‘the listening experience’ accordingly. The headphones also recognize when they are turned off and then pause the music.
Both shells have two microphones, which can be used for telephone calls and voice assistants, among other things. With these four microphones, the headphones can suppress wind noise, the manufacturer writes. Those microphones can also be used to control the headphones, as well as a touchpad on the side.
The Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless supports Bluetooth 5.2 and will be available in white and black from August 23. The suggested retail price is 349.90 euros.
