After the inauguration last February of the solar park of Fragnes-la-Loyère, in the industrial area of Grand Chalon, it is up to Sennecey-le-Grand to host a photovoltaic park. Preparatory work has just begun and the park will be inaugurated by the end of 2023.
It will be the largest park in the Chalonnais. Installed on 13 hectares of land, this future solar plant will meet the needs of 9,500 people, or 86% of the population of the Community of Municipalities between Saône and Grosne, on which Sennecey depends. This should represent a saving of 6,820 tons of CO2 per year.
The work is carried out by Luxel, a subsidiary of EDF Renewables, which has invested 9.8 million euros in this project. “At the beginning of 2023 the electrical works will take place, then until May the machines will beat, screw and bolt the poles intended to receive the panels”, explained Mathieu Pinchard, director of the Luxel project, at Newspaper of Saone-et-Loire .
In the heart of the Echo Parc business area
The future photovoltaic park will be located on former agricultural plots that have been rehabilitated to become the Echo Parc economic activity zone (23 hectares). This area is booming and is expected to host several companies over the next two years, including Equitom, France’s largest horse clinic, due to open at the end of 2023.
Luxel is carrying out other solar park projects in Saône-et-Loire. Vitry-en-Charollais is still under construction, after being severely damaged by the violent hail episodes that hit Charolais in June. The EDF subsidiary is also working on a solar power plant at Saint-Yan airport, which would thus become the largest solar park in the Saône-et-Loire (20 hectares). No inauguration date has been communicated by Luxel for these two projects.
