By August 26th, young people who have completed their secondary education this year and graduated but did not start work immediately pay their health insurance contribution for July. The same applies to seniors who will be full-time students in the fall and have not started work. For the Burgas region, 3335 students graduated from secondary education this year. Only for the Municipality of Burgas there are 2,428 high school graduates.

For the period from finishing secondary school to starting their higher education or working on an employment contract, they must pay their health insurance at their own expense in the amount of BGN 37.32 per month. The reason for this is that the entrants do not fall into any of the categories – schoolchildren or students, therefore they do not meet the conditions for health insurance at the expense of the state budget, as well as they do not exercise work for which they are subject to health insurance on the relevant basis under the Health Insurance Act.

In these cases, high school graduates must submit a declaration Form No. 7 – for the occurrence of an obligation to pay health insurance contributions. The document is submitted by the 25th of the month following the month in which the insurance obligation arose. Then is also the deadline for the payment of these installments. Since the 25th of this month is a non-attendance day, a Sunday, the declaration and payment of the health insurance can be done on the 26th of August, inclusive.

In the heading “Health insurance” on the website of the revenue agency, there is information on filling out and submitting declaration Form No. 7. The form is submitted to an office of the National Revenue Agency, by mail with a return receipt or through the electronic service of the revenue agency “Acceptance of declaration form No. 7 “Data on the occurrence of an obligation to pay health insurance contributions”, accessible with a Personal Identification Code (PIC) or electronic signature (KEP).

If more than three unpaid health insurance contributions for the last three years are allowed, the adult may end up with interrupted health insurance rights and no access to free health services provided by the National Health Insurance Fund, the NRA also reminds. Legal interest is charged for installments not made on time. A reference to the amount of the payable health insurance contributions and the interest on them can be made through the electronic service “Health Insurance Calculator”, which is freely accessible on the NRA’s E-portal.

Citizens can check their health insurance status, as well as check the periods for which they lack health insurance contributions, through the NRA’s electronic service, which is freely accessible on the Agency’s Portal.

Clients of the administration can also inquire about their health status by phone: 0700 18 700 (at a price according to the tariff of the relevant operator). The service is automatic and requires only the entry of the TIN via the phone’s keyboard. In addition, the system provides information on all months by year for which there is no data on health insurance of individuals. Health Insurance Status Inquiry by phone is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Information on filling out and submitting declaration Form No. 7 and paying the health contributions can be found on the YouTube channel of the National Revenue Agency, the website of the revenue agency or on phones: 0700 18 700; +359 2 9859 6801 at a price according to the tariff of the telephone operator.
