As the authorities announced on Friday morning, the missing person was last seen on Thursday morning around 7.30 a.m. at his home address on Philosophenweg in the Rübeland district.
The police asked the population for help in finding the pensioner.
As part of the intensive search measures, the missing person was finally found dead on Saturday by the comrades of the fire brigade of the city of Oberharz on the Brocken in the Neuwerk district.
