The police named one person as a suspect in the case of the death of a cadet at the Shipping Polytechnic Surabaya, Muhammad Rio Ferdinand Anwar (19). The suspect is the victim’s senior.
“One senior has been named a suspect and is currently under arrest. He is 19 years old. The initials are AF,” said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Surabaya Police AKBP Mirzal Maulana as quoted by Antara. detikJatimWednesday (8/2/2023).
Mirzal said that only the suspect was the one who carried out the beating. The beating caused injuries to Rio’s body that led to his death.
“He was hit several times, there were bruises around his chest, in the solar plexus, which affected his breathing, so he (the victim) lacked oxygen and died,” said Mirzal.
Previously, Rio died on Monday (6/2) night in the bathroom of the Surabaya Poltekpel. Muhammad Yani, Rio’s father, who saw irregularities in his son’s death, then reported it to the Gununganyar Police.
