FK Senica footballers saved themselves in the highest Slovak competition. In Friday’s home revenge, the barracks for the Fortuna League were drawn 1: 1 with MFK Dukla Banská Bystrica, and 2: 1 in the first match on the opponent’s ground.

Senica went to the draw as the penultimate team of the group to stay in FL, Banská Bystrica fought its way to it from second place in the second league. In the new year of FL, only MFK Tatran Liptovský Mikuláš will be a newcomer, Nitra was eliminated in the second highest competition.

After three days, the Banská Bystrica people in Záhorie presented themselves in a retaliatory barrage meeting. The Senic entered the meeting more actively, but did not get to the clear chance. After a fine move down the middle Adda nearly gave the home side a goal after 17 minutes. The finishing shot went just wide, though. Then the game leveled off, taking place mostly in the middle of the field.
Záhoráci were a little more active and in the 29th minute after the action of Šimčák with Malec, Košťál finished his shot, his shot flowing into the visitors’ corner kick. The opening goal of the draw fell in the 41st minute after the Záhorákov action. Totka unleashed a swerving effort from the left that the visitors’ keeper did well to tip wide.
Only an average match was played in the second half. The home consciousness controlled their lead of the game, the guests tried to turn the development in their favor with occasional breaks. After 58 minutes, Hanes got through on the right and was very close to equalizing for the home side, but didn’t get the shot away. The visitors kept the pressure on to tie the game when, after 76 minutes, Kvocera broke through the center and found himself alone with the keeper.
The Seničians could have scored a final point in the 84th minute, but Malec and Košťál did not finish the promising action by the end. The standard situation came in the 89th minute, when after Polievek’s direct kick, Kupčík equalized with his head on the back post. However, there was no time left for the guests and the duel ended in a draw, which was enough for Záhorák to save.

Žilina to Europe
MŠK Žilina footballers will play in the newly formed European Conference League next season. They secured their participation in the first preliminary round with a home victory in the final of the Fortuna League playoffs over FC ViOn Zlaté Moravce-Vráble 3: 2 after extra time. Taofiq Jibril took the lead, 101 minutes into the game.
Žilina got into the playoffs from the fourth place in the final table of the group for the title in FL. She eliminated Sereď in the semifinals and in the first preliminary round EKL will be the Slovak representative together with Trnava.
In the second preliminary round, the runner-up Dunajská Streda will start and the champion Slovan Bratislava will present himself in the first preliminary round of the Champions League.

The guests were extremely efficient at the beginning and benefited from a two-goal lead. After 13 minutes, Hrnčár sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. Kyziridis placed the ball out of reach for the home side’s keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. Eleven minutes later, Hrnčár added a second hit, when he also took advantage of Kyziridis’ center and ended right at the right post.
At the end of the first half, he significantly interfered in the development of the VAR match. First, the main referee of Glov, with his help, verified Čonka’s duel with Rusnák, judged the intervention of the visiting player as illegal and ordered an eleven. Bičachčjan transformed it with an overview and reduced it.
The break was even taken in a tie, because VAR was in office again at the set time. This time, Glova, after consulting with him, whistled the eleven for the duel between Chovan and Kurminowski and Bičachčjan from the white point for the second time in a short time sequence overcame the visiting goalkeeper – 2: 2.
After the change of parties, the locals worked out the presented opportunities to turn the situation in their favor. Fazlagič sent a pass between the defenders of the guests, behind whom he ran Bičachčjan and shot into the side net. Then Kurminowski knocked the ball on Gon and he fired from the first, Chovan went to the goalpost and corner. The further course of the second half was, in great chance, poorer and the duel reached extra time.
Žilina already prevailed in it and underlined it with huge possibilities. Slebodník found himself alone in front of the goal of Zlaté Moraviec, he headed only to Chovan. He soon missed the center of Bernát, he saved Tóth from Jibril at the last moment. However, Žilinčan took the lead 101 minutes into the game by 3 to 2, as Kaprálik elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar.
At the beginning of the second part of the extension, Slebodník could increase, stamping the first pole from the limit of sixteen. ViOn had a magnificent opportunity after 11 minutes as Petráš hit the ball hard from the edge of the penalty box. However, the shot went wide. In the end, during the guests’ efforts, Žilina was offered the opportunity to give the insurer a goal. Slebodník and Ďuriš and Myslovič did not march, but the home team did not lose the victory.
